Article 2 - (Amended By Law 5 /2013) Starting Date : 14/04/2013 The Minister of Business and Trade may take the following measures: 1. Setting the amounts of any commodity or item that may be purchased or owned or possessed. 2. Asking manufacturers and importers to hand over certain amounts of any commodity or items to cooperative societies to offer such commodity or items for sale. 3. Formation by a decision which shall be published in the Official Gazette of one or more committees to set the maximum prices of certain goods, services, wages and profit ratios referred to in the preceding article. 4. Asking shopkeepers and similar public industries to obtain a license from the competent department of the Ministry to promote the sale of goods and services by any of the following means: a. All methods of sale at reduced prices. b. Drawing of prizes or distribution of gifts. c. Advertisements that aim at promoting goods and services. By a decision of the Council of Ministers upon the proposal of the Minister of Business and Trade, fees may be imposed on the licenses issued by the Ministry.

Asking manufacturers and importers to hand over certain amounts of any commodity or items to the cooperative societies to offer such commodity or items for sale. 3. Setting the maximum prices, wages and profit ratesas referred to in the preceding Article, if need be, through committees formed for this purpose. 4. Asking shopkeepers and similar public industries of whatever activity to obtain licenses from the Department of Specifications, Standards and Consumer Protection to promote the sale of goods and services by any of the following means: a. all methods of sale at reduced prices. b. prize draw or distribution of gifts. c. all the ads which aim to promote goods and services. By a decision of the Council of Ministers upon the proposal of the Minister of Business and Trade, fees may be imposed on the license issued by the Ministry.

Determining the specifications of commodities and materials which are subject to this Law. 4. Setting the maximum prices, wages and profit percentages as referred to in the preceding Article, if need be, through committees formed for this purpose 5. Asking shopkeepers and similar public industries of whatever activity to obtain a license from the Ministry of Economy and Trade before commencing the operation of shops, or factories, or offering goods or commodities for sale or any sort of means that prevents tampering with prices. By a decision of the Council of Ministers upon the proposal of the Minister of Business and Trade, fees may be imposed on licenses issued by the Ministry.
