Attorneys’ Duties and Prohibited Acts
25 Article
Attorneys shall be committed to maintaining professional dignity, discipline and respect at all times during the performance of their duties and in their interaction with the public.
26 Article
Attorneys shall disclose confidential information to which they have access by virtue of their professional position. This obligation shall remain in force after the end of their service.
27 Article
Members of the Public Prosecution may not engage in any business or other actions, whether paid or unpaid, that are inconsistent with the independence and dignity of their office. The Attorney-General may prevent Attorneys from performing any work that he deems contrary to the independence and dignity of their office.
28 Article
Attorneys may not express their political opinions or engage in politics, nor may they stand for parliamentary or municipal council elections.
29 Article
A member of the Public Prosecution shall not be involved in any activity in which he has a direct or indirect personal interest, or a blood relationship or affinity up to the fourth degree to any party to such activity.
30 Article
A member of the Public Prosecution may not accept a gift from a litigant or the litigant's agent or family, nor may he authorize a family member to accept or retain such gift.
31 Article
1. A member of the Public Prosecution may be absent from work without notifying his superior or obtaining written permission, unless in an emergency and even after the expiry of his leave, secondment or permanent delegation.In all cases, where the period of absence from work without permission exceeds thirty consecutive days, and a warning letter is sent with a registered receipt and the member fails to return to work within thirty days from the date of the warning, the Attorney-General may consider the member resigned from the date on which his absence commenced. Where the member returns and provides an excuse within ninety days after the expiry of the 30-day period after the warning, the Attorney-General shall consider whether to accept or reject the excuse.
Where the Attorney-General accepts the excuse, he shall issue a decision on the resignation as if it had not occurred and the member shall return to his work. The period of his absence shall be deducted from the balance of his leave. Where there is no balance, the period of his absence shall be considered leave without pay.
Where the member fails to submit an excuse by the deadline, or his excuse is rejected, a decree shall be issued ending the member's mandate from the date of his absence from work.
