Law No. 11 of 2007 considering the Power Assumption Day of Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohamed Bin Thani as a National Day of the State 11 / 2007

We, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar Deputy,
Having perused the Constitution;
Law No. 20 of 1971 considering Independence Day as an official holiday;
And to commemorate the founder of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohamed Bin Thani, who has laid down the rules of the modern state of Qatar;
The bill submitted by the Council of Ministers;
And after seeking the opinion of the Shura Council;
Hereby promulgate the following Law:


Articles

Article 1


 The power assumption day of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani, the founder of the State of Qatar, on 18 December 1878, shall be the National Day of the State


 

Article 2


 The National Day of each year shall be an official holiday in the State.


 

Article 3


 The expression “State National Day” shall be replaced with the expression “Independence Day” wherever it appears in the applicable legislation.


 

Article 4


 Law No. 20 of 1971, referred to above, shall be repealed.
 
 


 

Article 5


 All competent authorities, each within its jurisdiction, shall enforce this law from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
