Law No. 2 of 2008 Amending Certain Provisions of the Commercial Companies Law Issued by Law No. 5 of 2002 2 / 2008

We, Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar,
Having reviewed the Constitution,
The Commercial Companies Law Issued by Law No. 5 of 2002, as amended by Law No. 16 for the year 2006,
The proposal of the Minister of Economy and Commerce,
The draft law submitted by the Council of Ministers,
And having consulted the Shura Council,
Hereby promulgate the following law:

Articles

Article 1

The text of the first paragraph of Article 68 of the Commercial Companies Law, referred to above, shall be replaced with the following text:

“Article 68

The government, other public authorities and corporations, and companies in which the State holds a minimum 51 percent of shares or less, may, upon approval of the Council of Ministers, incorporate one or more joint stock companies either by itself or jointly with one or more founders, whether a Qatari national or a foreigner, or a natural, juristic or private person.”

Article 2

All competent authorities, each within its own jurisdiction, shall enforce this law from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
