1.      Preparing and implementing plans and programs for the monitoring of air, water and soil.
  1. Controlling the rates and percentages of contaminants in nature to ensure they do not exceed the tolerable limits and standards.
  2. Establishing and operating networks and systems for continuous monitoring of the concentration levels of pollutants in residential, commercial and industrial areas, oil fields, landfill sites, and others.
  3. Identifying the various sources of pollutants and setting priorities to be followed by the concerned authorities to control these sources, and identifying and reducing the maximum amount of pollutants that emanate from such sources.
  4. Reviewing and approving plans for the technology used to monitor and treatpollutants and to reduce their emission.
  5. Issuing operation permits for environmentally authorized facilities and inspection thereof, and monitoring and reporting on environment-related violations.
  6. Preparing periodic reports on the results of measuring the various pollutants in the State, and comparing same with the limits allowed.
  7. Preparing periodic reports on the state of environmental indicators in the State.
  8. Investigating complaints relating to environmental pollution and making recommendations thereon to the concerned authorities.
  9. Confirming the validity of the data provided by industrial establishments regarding pollutant emissions and the amount of waste.
  10. Checking the statements on the data record of an establishment to ensure the extent of its compliance with the implementation of environmental protection standards.
